Kapahaka

On Thursday kapahaka people went to Koanga Festival and the kapahaka people got changed into our costumes. We wore our lipstick too and we practised inside the school. When we were done practising we went out and performed on the stage and lots of people were in there. When we were done performing we got changed into our normal clothes and went home. Hanna D

On Saturday, I went to Koanga Festival at Farm Cove Intermediate to perform with Whaea O'Shea. Everyone in kapa haka had to practise lots and lots! On the real performance I was very nervous. All the girls had to wear black lipstick. My favourite song to perform was Ma ranga ranga.

On Saturday I went to the Koanga Festival to perform! There was food and ice-cream there but I did not eat just then. I found Miss Smol and my best friend. She was performing too! Miss Smol went with us to a room. We put black lipstick on. Whaea o shea is our kapa haka teacher. She teaches us every Tuesday. Then it was time to perform. I went out there and enjoyed it.

On Saturday we went to the koanga festival at Farm Cove Intermediate to perform. When we all got there we all got ready and did a practice . We were meant to go on at 2.30 but it was half an hour later. So when we got on the stage there was a lot of people. I was scared but after one song I was OK. We did 9 songs. We went off the stage and ran back to the gym. The stage was flat and it was for basket ball and there were stands all around it.

On Saturday we went to Farm Cove Intermediate for the Koanga Festival because Howick Primary was doing a show for the audience. We got to wear costumes and have feathers in our hair. We also got black lipstick on. My favourite one was the haka and the waka. I like the waka because we have pois. Kapahaka is mostly singing and dancing. We like to perform now. Whaea O' Shea was the leader of Kapahaka. We were surprised about Richard, Boss's dad because he did a well done haka for the whole group.
